Identify the devices involved

Write down the exact physical model, phone app and any cloud service named in the instructions. Ask whether the microphone is on the unit, the phone, or both. Read the manufacturer’s and app provider’s own notices for the equipment you plan to use.

Find recording and deletion controls

Check for a hardware mute switch, an app permission toggle and any recording indicator. Ask whether audio, transcripts, images or personal settings are stored. Locate the account and conversation deletion steps before pairing a device.

Check offline behavior

Ask what works without internet access or a subscription. Test one documented feature with the phone disconnected if the seller allows it. An offline motion control and an offline conversation engine are different capabilities.

Plan for a handover

Ask how to unpair the hardware and reset it before service, resale, or a return. Save the relevant instructions and keep the device identifier separate from public reviews. If the provider changes its app or service, recheck the current controls.
